AN EXCERPT

From the pages of Pepelina

‘She remembered her father and his greasy hands as he shredded roasted pork and served cabbage on her plate during winter celebrations. Soon enough the memory came alive in her mind fully. It was as if she were back in the dining room with roasted pork pieces laid out on the silver platters and a bowl of shredded green and purple cabbage next to it.

‘The good cabbage. The fresh cabbage,’ said her father.

‘No, it’s the yummy healthy worms,’ replied Pepelina.

Her father laughed as he spooned cabbage on her plate along a big piece of roasted pork. Pepelina looked at her father and devoured the cabbage before she got to the pork. She ate so fast it seemed as if she were a fast carriage racing against her father who sat next to her eating slowly and savoring every bite.’

Maybe with purple cabbage you will discover that it does not take a fancy castle or feast to feel royal and noble, and that royal feasts can be recreated at your dinner table. And if, while you eat the purple cabbage salad with your family, you are looking for a great read, Pepelina is ready to welcome you. She has more cabbage secrets to share. Many are told humbly, as all the best stories are. Royal leaf or peasant leaf, it is the writing that makes the pages of cabbage. I hope that Pepelina makes it to your humble or royal table as a perfect companion.

Sending many blessings,
